Group FaceTime Vulnerability

January 29, 2019 By admin

Apple’s FaceTime app has a flaw that allows callers to remotely tap into another user’s microphone or camera even if that user hasn’t picked up the call.

The flaw only affects Group FaceTime calls, a feature that launched last year. With the bug, a caller who initiates a group FaceTime call could remotely eavesdrop on the audio or video of another iPhone or iPad user before that user accepts the call.

Apple has deactivated Group FaceTime until this bug has been resolved. Turn off FaceTime by going into your iPhone’s settings, selecting ‘FaceTime’ and toggling the app off.
