Do you really know what is on your network? If you allow personal devices on your organization, chances are there is an entire community that has popped up without your knowledge. Network aware light bulbs, sensors, gauges and actuators, game consoles, medical devices are all points of security vulnerability on your network.
Knowing what is on your network is also vitally important to establishing behavior patterns, machine learning inputs, and establishing other norms so you can notice when things change. . . before the destruction takes place.
Get started with a low cost network profiling. It will be easy to take the necessary next steps after that. Network profiling is also a great first step towards a network segmentation project which seems to be on everyone’s To Do list this year.
